The first in Indonesia, a music festival that presents the "face" of Indonesia

The Directorate of Film, Music, and Media, Ministry of Education and Culture, in collaboration with the Karmawibhangga Indonesia Exotic Foundation (EKI) held the Indonesian Musical Festival (FMI) which will present folklore and the history of the Indonesian nation.

This festival will be held on 20-21 August at Ciputra Artpreneur, Kuningan, Jakarta.

As the first music festival in Indonesia, FMI brings the musical industry in Indonesia that has not received much attention and will be played by the musical community, such as EKI Dance Company, FlodanzSoka, Jakarta Movin, Artswara, Kampus Betawi, Swargaloka, and Teman Production.

As a synopsis, Artswara will bring the story of the national hero, Cut Nyak Dien, which is packed with a cappella music.

Then, there is Eki Dance Company which will tell you another side of Ken Dedes that not many people know about. Titien Wattimena is rumored to be participating as a screenwriter.

This time Ken Dedes not only talks about the legendary love story of Ken Dedes and Ken Arok, but also about the secrets behind it: ambition, betrayal, and the existence of a woman who has not been discussed in their story, named Ken Umang," said Titien in Valid News (8/8).

Meanwhile, the Kampus Betawi will show the story of love and brotherhood in a musical entitled "Blood Brothers" which will highlight the other side of the life of a Betawi Female Champion with a background of love with two men who are actually siblings, but have been separated for a long time.

There is also TEMAN Musicals who will tell the story of an activist from the old order, Soe Hok Gie with the theme of justice.

In addition, FMI will also be equipped with the stories of Tahta Mas Rangsang, Teka Iku Bo'a Ga'i, and 9 Sebilu, all of which come from Indonesian history and culture.

The organizers of FMI hope that, “This festival can present an Indonesian musical concept that does not lead to Broadway, but can present its own musical concept that is uniquely Indonesian. This is possible because Indonesia has a rich culture that can be used as part of the instrument process in musical performances."

Tickets to watch FMI can be accessed for free through Loket.com.

In addition to presenting performances, FMI will also be enlivened with exhibitions, seminars, workshops, to Indonesian culinary specialties.
