Britney Spears’ conservatorship finally ends

After 13 years, Britney Spears’ conservatorship has finally ended. This news was announced after Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated the court-ordered arrangement during a hearing last Friday (12 November).

“Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day! Best day ever, praise the Lord, can I get an Amen? #FreedBritney,” the singer tweeted.

Back in June, Britney stated at a hearing that she had enough with the whole conservatorship arrangement - “I just want my life back. It's been 13 years,” she said. She also called the conservatorship abusive, making her traumatised, as she was forced to take birth control and some other medications.

Britney’s conservatorship is divided into two parts: the conservatorship of her estate (controlling her income and financial decisions) and the conservatorship of her as a person (controlling her well-being and health). Both were terminated last Friday. According to the judge, a medical/psychological evaluation will not be required for Britney.

However, the legal battle between the star and her father is far from over. Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart filed a 110-page petition last month requesting to depose Jamie Spears, after it was discovered that he illegally placed recording devices in her consent for surveillance purposes.
