Net-a-Porter taps into resale in partnership with Reflaunt
Highlighting circularity, online luxury fashion retailer Net-a-Porter recently launched a resale service in collaboration with Reflaunt.
“More than ever, our customers are looking for fashion that is not only designed to last, but for ways in which it can go on to be re-loved,” said Luxury and Fashion President at Net-a-Porter, Mr Porter and The Outnet Alison Loehnisin a statement.
“We see re-commerce as a true enabler to tap into greater product longevity by extending the lives of pre-loved purchases,” she added.
As reported on its website, Net-a-Porter x Reflaunt enables people to clear out their closet in the most planet-friendly way by becoming part of the sharing economy, giving someone else the chance to fall in sartorial love with just a few clicks.
This is how the service works. One will decide the items they wish to resell and prepare it. After that, Reflaunt will pick up and collect the items from the reseller's home, free of charge. Reflaunt’s team of experts will also be the one to handle the listing and photographing as well as the authentication and curation process before the items are listed in the marketplace.
Once the items have been accepted by Reflaunt, resellers may choose either to receive payment in Net-a-Porter store credit (with an extra 10% added) or in cash via bank transfer. Therefore, resellers do not need to wait for the items to be purchased by its new owners.
Siblings platforms across the YOOX Net-a-Porter Group, including Mr Porter and The Outnet, will also roll out this resale service by 2022.
