Byo releases Byo Logic, unisex line made from repurposed materials
Fashion bag brand Byo at Jakarta Fashion Week 2021 that was held in November released its latest collection Byo Logic.
Bags under the new line are made from repurposed materials, such as post-production off-cut leather which “gives new life to post-production leather waste”.
Byo sees the release as an innovation or “the next logical step” towards the necessary goal of using responsible materials while still being completely true to the brand’s core elements.
Hence, in the collection, Byo introduces the new Standard Bag and the Crash Bag with modular interlocking system. Both bags remain true to the brand's sci-fi futuristic aesthetic and experimental spirit.
“One of the biggest innovations in this collection is to design a modular interlocking system that can connect a certain type of leather to another. We cannot use our old design to do this, because the leather will fall apart easily,” said Byo founder Tommy Ambiyo Tedji.
“After 3 months of research and development I finally found the right design that has the elements needed: strong lock holding system, hiding the back side of the leathers, soft to touch and is also aesthetically pleasing,” he added.
The bags’ contemporary and classic silhouette and geometry make them versatile to all spectrums of gender and occasions.
“It’s about the silhouette and geometry of the bags. We use a right-triangle as the main element of the construction with 90° & 45° angles. By this guideline, we are able to make a lattice pattern that is not too ornamental, but more functional and brings a minimalistic-modern feel to the bags,” said Tommy when he explained why Byo Logic is considered a unisex collection.
