Shopee expands to Chile and Colombia

Southeast Asian e-commerce giant Shopee finally landedin Chile and Columbia two years after it first entered South America via Brazil. Shopee’s launch in Brazil in 2019 was a pilot initiative of its cross-border team to support cross-border sellers. After one year of operations in Brazil, Shopee expanded its business to Mexico.

In just one year, Shopee managed to scale up its business in Brazil, going from a pilot project to a full branch team consisting of 250 people. The company also works together with local sellers.

Shopee launched its websites silently in Chile and Columbia last week. This showed its commitment to competing with an Argentinian e-commerce giant MercadoLibre and other multinational corporations, such as Amazon and Alibaba.
