Disney partners with local brands to launch special collection
Disney in collaboration with Indonesian local brands Buttonscarves, HIJUP, Ittaherl, Nona, Puru Kambera, Shop At Velvet, UBS and Wear Status Quo launched a special edition for Disney’s year-long event titled Ultimate Princess Celebration. Each brand will incorporate elements that represent the kindness and courage of Disney characters into their fashion-related products.
Under the collaboration, Ittaherl, a local brand from Bandung that was founded in 2012, created a pair of cream yellow heels with a striking rose as its decoration that is inspired by Princess Belle.
Disney also partnered with modest wear brands ButtonScarves, Puru Kambera and HIJUP for a Moana-inspired collection. ButtonScarves launched a sea-themed hijab collection inspired by The Little Mermaid, while Puru Kambera launched six hijabs that are inspired by Mulan, Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzel and Snow White. UBS Lifestyle created a jewellery collection inspired by the seven Disney princesses.
For clothing, Shop at Velvet released 50+ products inspired by classic Disney princesses, while Wear Status Quo and Nona bring new colours by putting the spotlight on Disney villains and sidekicks on their collections.
At the virtual press conference, Director of Product Design & Development, India, SEA & MENA at The Walt Disney Company, Wanda Rau said that, “Through this collaboration, we would like to celebrate the creativity of Indonesian fashion designers and enthusiasts.” She hopes that the UPC event could also provide a space for talented Indonesiandesigners to experiment and express their skills and creativity.
