Dermatologist Richard Lee arrested for the second time due to suspected illegal access

Dermatologist Richard Lee on 28 December was arrested for the second time. Illegal access to his Instagram account that has been confiscated and is currently investigated as evidence is known as the reason behind the arrest. Evidence tampering is also suspected to be the other reason. 

This arrest, however, is not related to the alleged defamation suit filed by Kartika Putri. 

Lee’s lawyer Razman Nasution said this arrest was fully unanticipated. The police decided to detain Lee because the case file for the first stage of the illegal access case that ensnared him was declared complete by the prosecutor.

Razman claimed that his client did not have any idea that the post he made on Facebook was also automatically published on his Instagram account. “Dr Richard Lee does not have any intention to break into, duplicate or hack the Instagram account that had been confiscated by the Cyber Crime Unit,” said Razman.

“If my review only led to an arrest, all of my efforts to scrutinise [skincare products] only resulted in me being arrested, it's really inappropriate," Lee said.

Lee also stated that he does not deserve to go through such legal proceedings as the only intention he has (which is reflected on his content) is only to educate the public.
