Companies in creative sector listed on stock exchange

The creative industry is not always about fashion or handicraft. There are many raw material suppliers, manufacturers and media which also play a role in the creative industry. Not only companies in the energy sector, financial, health and other primary sectors, there are also many companies in the creative industry that have been listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI).

Beauty

Even though the beauty industry is part of the chemical, pharmaceutical and traditional medicine industry, plenty of professions in the beauty sector are included in creative industries. Therefore, the beauty industry is a supporting industry of the creative industry.

Mustika Ratu Tbk. (MRAT)

In the category of cosmetics, Mustika Ratu is the pioneer of beauty care products. Mustika Ratu was founded by BRA Mooryati Soedibyo in 1975.

Listed since 1995, Mustika Ratu have released cosmetics and beauty care products, health services, spa, as well as owning several affiliated companies, such as Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta and Yayasan Puteri Indonesia.

Victoria Care Indonesia Tbk. (VICI)

Founded in 2007 and listed in 2002, Victoria Care Indonesia is a cosmetics and toiletries manufacturer. Beauty and hair care products Herborist, NuFace mask and hair dye Miranda are some of the products manufactured by Victoria Care Indonesia.

Victoria Care Indonesia’s products are available in 3,158 traditional wholesalers, 61,595 traditional retailers and 9,017 modern retailers throughout almost all of Indonesia.

Consumer Goods

Sepatu Bata Tbk. (BATA)

The 90s generation must be familiar with Bubblegummers or North Star. Both are the flagship products of Sepatu Bata. Other brands manufactured by Sepatu Bata are Marie Claire and Weinbrenner. Sepatu Bata has been listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since 1982.

Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk. (MAPI)

Listed in 2004, Mitra Adiperkasa focuses on retail trade of clothing, shoes, accessories, bags and sports equipment with more than 1,800 stores throughout Indonesia. Two of MAPI subsidiaries have also been listed on the BEI:

MAP Aktif Adiperkasa Tbk. (MAPA) was listed in 2018. This company is engaged in retail for sports, kids, and lifestyle products. MAPA houses, among others, Planet Sports, Sports Station and Kidz Station.
MAP Boga Adiperkasa Tbk. (MAPB) houses many famous food and beverages brands, such as Starbucks, with more than 340 stores in 28 cities in Indonesia. MAPB was listed in 2017.

Textile

Century Textile Industry Tbk. (CNTX)

Century Textile Industry (CENTEX) is a textile factory located in Jakarta. This company has been listed since 1979 and have a production capacity of 2.5 million yards per month.

Asia Pacific Investama Tbk. (MYTX)

Asia Pacific Investama, which has been listed on the BEI since 1989, was engaged in textile and garment. However, since 2006, this company has transformed its business into an investment company which focuses on the management and development of its subsidiary, Apac Inti Corpora which manufactures thread, greige (raw fabric) and denim.

Sritex atau PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk. (SRIL)

This famous garment company was founded in 1973 and listed on the BEI in 2013. Sritex is engaged in spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, textile finishing and garment manufacturing.

Trisula International (TRIS)

Founded in 1968 and listed on the BEI in 2012, this garment company has exported their products to many countries, such as Japan, United States, European countries, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Trisula Internasional also has a subsidiary focused on corporate uniforms, such as banks, hotels, government agencies and airlines.

Media

Mahaka Media Tbk. (ABBA)

Several entities housed under Mahaka Media are 101 JakFM, Gen FM and JakTV, as well as Republika daily. This company was listed on the BEI in 2002 with the ticker ABBA. Its subsidiary, Mahaka Radio Integra, was listed in 2016 with the code ticker MARI.

MD Entertainment Tbk. (FILM)

This production house, which was listed on the BEI in 2018, has produced many big screen movies in Indonesia. MD Entertainment’s successful works that generated the largest audience include Ayat-Ayat Cinta, Habibie & Ainun and Rudy Habibie.

Media Nusantara Citra (MNC Group)

MNC Group houses many companies in various fields, such as advertising, broadband and subscription-based media. Several MNC Group subsidiaries have been listed on the BEI:

Media Nusantara Citra (MNCN) was listed in 2007, operating four free national TV stations, including RCTI.
MNC Studios International (MSIN) was listed in 2018, providing the production of TV programs as well as distributing TV programs and movies in Indonesia and overseas.
MNC Sky Vision (MSKY) is a paid TV company in Indonesia and was listed in the BEI in 2012.
Originally called Sky Vision Networks, MNC Vision Networks (IPTV) was founded on 27 December 2006 and was listed on the BEI in 2019. This company is engaged in paid TV, fixed broadband and digital content services.

Surya Citra Media (SCMA)

Listed since 2002, this company houses SCTV and Indosiar TV stations as well as several content-based companies, such as Digital Rantai Maya and Screenplay.
