Phoebe Philo, former creative director of Celine, returns to fashion

The critically acclaimed fashion designer Phoebe Philo on 13 July via Instagram announced her return to the fashion scene next year. She launched a new brand under her own name in which LVMH, her patron during her Céline years, made a minor investment. Rumours about her comeback have been circulating for a while, especially after she made an appearance on the ANDAM Fashion Jury on 1 July.

Philo is legendary as she made her success turning two luxury brands, namely Chloé and Céline, into It brands during her years being a part of them. She is considered as revolutionary as Christian Dior as she came up with Female Gaze, a perspective she uses in her designs that focuses on a market of women who cares about design, not about them being a part of the decoration.

Fashion enthusiasts and work colleagues alike took her departure from Celine as a huge loss to the fashion industry. Philo took a hiatus after leaving the LVMH brand in 2017.
